December Newsletter

,

During November we had ongoing discussions with NHS Tayside about our business plan. They invited us to give a presentation on our proposals for the health and wellbeing hub at the Infirmary which we were happy to do.

The virtual event took place before a panel of 12 representatives from NHS Tayside and Angus Council bodies on Wednesday 25 November. Attached are the presentation and the possible usage of the site for your information. There was a short Q & A session before a breakdown in technology stopped the proceedings. From the meeting we have been asked to submit additional information on the groups and organisations who will be using the space. The presentation was well received and we are hopeful we are closer now to a, ‘Yes’, for our Community Asset Transfer (CAT) request for the Infirmary site.

We anticipate a decision for the CAT request by the end of January 2021 and if a ‘Yes’, we will have to begin the serious planning of taking responsibility for the site later on in the year. Planning will include looking at the wide range of skills and experiences required to set up a project of this size, e.g. trades, finance, accounting, management, legal, administration. We ask that you give serious thought to the ways in which you can help with the planning and offering your skills and services, which may not necessarily be right away, but will be vital once we take over the site. We will keep you updated on the proceedings.

The Jenner Centre, in the former Santander premises, is well used by a range of groups and organisations offering help and support to many people. At present we are managing to staff the Centre but as the restrictions are eased more groups will want to access the rooms. We will then need more volunteers to help. If you can offer a few hours during the week please get in touch.

Have a lovely Christmas, in spite of the restrictions, and we wish you all the very best for 2021.
