CAT application decision

We received a letter from NHS Tayside today informing us that our Community Asset Transfer for the Brechin Infirmary site has been refused. We are extremely disappointed.

At our meeting on Thursday 1st July 2021, the Steering Group decided unanimously that we would appeal the refusal of our Community Asset Transfer (CAT) request by NHS Tayside. Our appeal must be with the Scottish Government by 29 July 2021.

NHS Tayside have given four reasons for refusing our CAT request and over the next week we will put together our response to challenge each of them. We will keep you updated on the progress of our appeal before submission and when it is submitted.

We do not know how long it will take for the decision to be made by the Scottish Government and unfortunately, this will delay our application to the Scottish Land Fund for a grant to purchase the site. However, we are confident the refusal will be overturned and we will then move forward positively.
